Here explain what about the Lolitas in your country ! How does people react about it, what do they think about it !!

In France, lolita style is seen as very strange...when you walk in the street, people look at you as if you were an extraterrestre...they are always asking you why you dress like this....That you are strange ! They say a lot of bad reflexions....

But the lolita is not very developped in France, even if we are a "lot" of girls now, who dresses like this !

In the U.S. There are many lolitas but because the country is so large not all lolitas are located in the same areas. I live in the Rio Grande Valley ( South Texas) and I've met people interested in the fashion, and people that enjoy wearing the fashion but it's still not as popular and I hope that it will grow more and more among the youth!
How is seen lolita styles in your own country ?? 21725

When I first started wearing lolita I was 16 years old and no one knew anything of Lolita & I got some interesting reactions! Here are some of my memories of the first times I wore lolita:

On my first day of school I waited outside for the highschool bus and an elementary school bus stopped to pick me up! he was very persistant! I was so shocked he thought I was an elementary student*. (*elementary=enseignement primaire) After a while the busdrivers stopped trying to pick me up! jaja it was so funny I couldnt stop laughing..

At school I had people ask weird questions like "Why do you wear these black and white dresses, are you a maid??" "are you mourning??" How is seen lolita styles in your own country ?? 91410 but sometimes I would get wonderful compliments like, "you look like a cute doll" "your dress is so beautiful like my daughters Folklorico dress" & "I'll always remember your beautiful dresses"

What was really suprising was that I had many boys come up to methey would say " I like you! give me your phone number" or " My friend really likes you!! please talk to him!!" '
of course I declined because they were strangers and they scared me.

Another time I was at the the shopping center with my friend Richard and we were walking around and got many stares, the elderly, and the children would smile but the teenagers would giggle and whisper.

Now that I wear lolita more often I dont really pay attention to the reactions.. mabey because it's so natural? jaja anyways~ I would love to hear everyones experiences! please share your stories too!! (^_^)

Oww ! Your little stories are very interesting ! I think that all the lolitas have the sames experiences !
I tell you mine...
First time I wore lolita, I was 16 or 17. I came to the college wearing a black dress. Of course it was more gothic than lolita...I had got no lolita's dresses yet ! The day before, I was wearing normal clothes, then at the college, chen people saw me, everybody stay still when I was walking...Time passed by, and I bought more lolita's clothes. Some white clothes. And as nobody knows lolita fashion, they didn't understand how a gothic, can wear white clothes...( because in their mind, I'm always a gothic -_-" but I am not !!! ).
Some of the students had to call me "halloween" ( Oh my god -_-" ). And sometimes, I had to hear some reflections like, "hey Cinderella (Cendrillon)", "hey Sakura !" or "hey Little House of the Prairie !!" .... I was so ... choked. I think that Cinderella is not a insult ! But for them it was...
Some other people came to see me and said "Oh excuse me! I have to say that your dresses are so beautiful! I you wear it so good! You're gorgeous !". With the time, people think that lolita is more and more beautiful I think.

An other time, in christmas time, I was walking in my college to go to meet friends, and I walked in side of a band of boys. Then one of them said "hey! Do you know that you are horrible!", and they laughed. They didn't think that i will say someting, because I was alone. but I turn back pated the men who said that on the shoulder and asked him "Which one of you said that ?" .. one of the boys answered "It's him (in showing his friends)". I said to him "You are so stupid, if you had shuted your mouth I never knew that it was you. You're an asshole, and you have no courage to say to a poor "horrible girl" like me that you are the one who said that ! You're just good to say that it's your friend! And before telling things of other people clothes, you'll be better to look what you're wearing before leaving your house!" . Then he stayed still...in no saying nothing, as if it was frustrated, and I continue my way ! is was a very good experience for me, because in the past I'd never dare to say things to people than laugh when I passed...but this time was too much...!

An other time, a boy were singing the music of the little houde of the praire when I was walking. He began the song, I stoped my way front of him, and finished the song for him with a big smile ! He was tottaly chocked, and all his friends began to laugh of him. I continued my way with my big smile ^_^"

And the one that I prefer, is the time when I was walking behind a little girl and her dad. The little girl was always turning her head to see me. Then she said to her dad "Daaad ! Looook ! There is a giant doll behind us !!!!! She is so beautilfuuuuuuuuuuuuuuul isn't it ??? This Madam is very beautilfuuuuuuul!" ...It was so...so...so shoopy >< (does "shoopy" exist in english O_o .. I don"t think so ^_^" )...So cute !
I smile to her and her dad ! And she continued to look at me all the time she could !

That are my stories...There are a lot of stories yet ! Ow yeah, I just forgot to say, that a lot of people are always taking photos of me when I walk in the street...I am not a star XD

Please tell us your own stories !!

That's so interesting to see how you live as a lolita in US Victoria

Ad in compare with Mitsuko's experiences, I think it's near the same.

About me, I don't know what to say How is seen lolita styles in your own country ?? 687229
I had some experiences as Mitsuko and you ones. But, I never had lolita's appearance very very very pronounced. Because I wear only classic lolita and also because I haven't many different clothes. So it's always soft reflections. But often people look at me with dazed glances. Youngs make me mockeries. But sometimes I have some compliments too ^^

The story which has most marked me, is enough frightens...
Moreover, that arrived at me several times.

I walked quietly and calmly in the street, and a car drive very slowly near to me. There were man inside it and he looked at me with mimes enough eloquent. I shall say even obscene. I was enough afraid and wasn't reassured...

This kind of experiences arrived me at several times ...
I prefere walk and stroll with others lolitas or with a friend or my boy friend. Because alone, this kind of experience is so scaring ><

I'm curious to know how that takes place in Slowenia for Immortal Angel.
I hope she will tell us her experience ! I would like to hear it How is seen lolita styles in your own country ?? 21725

That's sooo interesting!
In italy, things are a bit different.
Some styles like punk or goth have slowly been accepted as "that strange kid all dark right there",they watch you like you are an alien or something but they will not say almost anythig.
So,imagine what is going to happen when a lolita walks near them XD
Except for Turin, and maybe some areas of Milan an Venice, wearing lolita style is seen like a mad thing to do.
If you wear a lolita dress they will laugh at you, start to call you names and yell at you with a lot of offensive words.
They do not understand that are just another kind of style,we are not going to eat kids or anything like that XD
My bleoved friend got yelled many times when she went to meet her girlfriend dressed in EGL style.
They insult us...sometimes we feel really down due to this.
But we just don't care, right?
They are going to accept and get used to us soon I guess.
Never give up How is seen lolita styles in your own country ?? 474279

You know girls, even in Japan, if a lolita walk on the street in a other party of the town than harajuku or Shinjuku..people will think that they are mad too ! The only difference is that japanese people are too strict to dare to look at them ! But, I thought that it was more simple to be a lolita in Italia !

And I really agree with you and Lowen, they be obliged to accept us ! AND ONE DAY WE WILL HAVE THE POWERRRRR MOUHAHAHAHAH.....hum..sorry How is seen lolita styles in your own country ?? 521910

When I went to Japan for studying japanese, Harajuku was my favourite place How is seen lolita styles in your own country ?? 339474
I used to go there with my friend almost every evening after school.
In Omotesando they are just too snob for lolitas, but in Takeshita Tori (main shop street of Harajuku)...*__* It was the paradise, believe me!! XD

so cute!

Lowen~ I agree most lolitas will have similar experiences How is seen lolita styles in your own country ?? 146178 but they are all still very
special and different because of the region and culture of people. I'm sorry to hear about your bad experience m(_ _)m I know what you mean, I used to live in a bad bad neighborhood when I as a child and there were some older creepy people with wandering eyes!
I moved away but I always worry about the children in that area.
hmmm mabey carrying a parasol will help you? so you can smack those creepy people away!! I'm glad to hear you are cautious when wearing lolita because I think some lolitas who enter the fashion dont realize that their can be risks (^~^)'''
please take good care of yourself!

Miss Juliet! what interesting stories you have brought!
jeje but I cannot say that I'm a lolita who doesnt enjoy eating children♡
I like them very much! xD they taste like candy How is seen lolita styles in your own country ?? 21725 ~ jajaja just kidding!

Sailormoon <3
(I have a Sailormoon t-shirt ^^;;; )

Anyway my experiences with people here are kinda similar. Though I notice that somewhat older people relly appreciate the style. If I go meet up with friends in my town, there's always an older woman, saying how nice we look <3
The younger people mostly say that it isn't 'carnaval' yet. (Carnaval here is sort of similar to haloween. It isn't about scary stuff though, just dressing up weird and drink lots of beer. I don't enjoy it -.-; )
On the other hand, the people in my class are always asking me where I got my clothes and stuff. I get they say that kind of things to us, because they don't know what it is, because it's different then they're used to. And to be honest, I never really react to them. (and even the alternative people stare at us, even the goths XDD)

In estonia Lolita is wiewed diffrendly by diffrent kind of people and in diffrent kind of places....
Lolita is aparaised by old grandmothers and Germans...
getting picked on by children - oooh its the new kind of emo.
Apraised again by children who like emilie autumn or kerli or anime...
and then getting STRONGLY PICKED BY RUSSIANS WHO DISSLIKE US WEARING GERMAN RELATED CLOTHING...

I have no REAL lolita dresses... only gohic - ish.... but im getting there :D

There is one place where you can wear lolita and feel no fear of being what you are is the old town... all the freaks live there... and that place is the tourist atraction XD.
